76 Years in Ireland

Yara can look back on close to 76 years of being the brand of choice for quality high N.P.K products in the North of Ireland with different company names and structures , evolving from Fisons , Norsk Hydro via Hydro Agri to Yara Ireland. Our main focus has been a leading crop nutrition provider specialising in high NPK and nitrogen fertilisers and industrial products. For several decades before this Irish farmers have been enjoying the benefits of our quality fertilisers as we have been a major industrial supplier to other well-known Irish fertiliser companies.

More recently the company focus has been to provide these quality products in Yara branded bags backed by strong agronomic advise, reflecting crop nitrogen requirements which at the same time protects the local environment and water quality. Our Viking Ship logo is associated by farmers throughout the world from South East Asia to Brazil with high quality fertilisers that improve yield and quality.

Our History...

Our history is living proof of our commitment and consistency all the way from the beginning in 1946 when Norsk Hydro signed the first sales agreement with Wilson & Geo. Meyer until today, 67 years later. Our history shows how the company has developed, grown and been supported by a growing market. It also shows the early globalisation of the company and the fertiliser industry. During the later years the development of the industrial market and the increased focus on environmental products mark two additional important milestones.
